Supervisory Leadership Meetings
Held in November

Travis Sepulvado shares his work group's Best Safety Practices with all the participants.

The fourth quarter Supervisory Leadership meetings were held at the Holiday Inn in Lafayette, Louisiana, in November 1997. To allow all Rig Supervisors the opportunity to attend the one-day session, two meetings were held, one on November 13th and the second on November 20th. More than eighty Managers and Rig Supervisors were in attendance at each meeting. In addition to the Rig Supervisors, the attendees included Senior Management from the Houston office as well as Managers and operations staff from all NABORS/ SUNDOWNER OFFSHORE Groups. The safety theme of this quarter's agenda was Best Safety Practices.

Following the opening remarks by CEO Jerry Shanklin, the Engineering and Maintenance Group, lead by Engineering Manager, Greg Carter, presented a session on equipment maintenance and provided a guest speaker from the consulting group that assisted in writing the Company's Maintenance Program. The Purchasing Group also addressed the Supervisors and discussed purchasing procedures.

Following a review of the Company's and each Rig's safety performance through the third quarter 1997, the Rig Supervisors were divided into ve separate work groups. Each group, chaired by one of the Operations Managers, listed what they felt was their respective rig's Best Safety Practices. Each group's best practice was captured on a chart and presented to the full assembly by the Operations Managers. The purpose of the exercise was to make every Supervisor aware of the Best Safety Practices used by their fellow Supervisors.

NABORS/SUNDOWNER 1998 Safety Plan, which had been previously established by the Operations Managers and the HS&E Group, was presented and each Rig Supervisor was asked to set a personal goal towards reaching Safety Excellence during 1998 (the Safety Plan is shown in detail on page 5).

The Operations Managers from NABORS OFFSHORE, SUNDOWNER OFFSHORE, SUNDOWNER INLAND SERVICES and STRATA-VAULT concluded the meetings with their "Expectations" presentation.

The Supervisory Leadership meetings included all Toolpushers and Operations Managers for SUNDOWNER and NABORS OFFSHORE.
